You have got to that stage where you know you need to outsource, but before you can do that you need to work out what to outsource.  And this for a lot of people is a stumbling block.

But there are some simple ways to work it out.

  1. What do you enjoy doing?

When we run out own business, it can be rewarding but it is hard work.  Making sure you are enjoying what you are doing keep you motivated.  Work out what you enjoy doing and what you don’t.

Those tasks that you like to do and are good at, keep.  You will find it a lot easier to motivate yourself to plan these in because you like them.

Those you don’t outsource! Sometimes it really can be a simple as that.

  1. Make a list for two weeks

Now I love a list, but some people don’t.  However, if you spend some time recording everything you do you will end up with a comprehensive task list.  I recommend a couple of weeks as this will give you a good idea of what is taking up your time.  But you can do this for a day or month., the choice is yours.  Just make sure that it is a true representation of how your time is spent.

To have a list like this in front of you is helpful in establishing the needs of your business.  It is important that whatever you choose to handover to a Virtual Assistant brings value and allows you more time to concentrate on growth and development.

  1. Categorising

Sit down and do a brain dump!!  Getting everything out onto a sheet of paper can not only be therapeutic but will clarify thinking.  This should include everything that you do, anything that you are not managing to do, plans for the future, what is creating stress, what makes you happy etc.  Anything that springs to mind, put it down.

Then spend some time categorising this, concentrating on what can be or what is already being outsourced to other professionals, for instance, your bookkeeping to your accountant.

Then look at what is left.

This can be outsourced to a Virtual Assistant.

If you employ one of these tips, you will find yourself with a comprehensive list of tasks that you can outsource.  All you have to do then is find the Virtual Assistant for you!
